South First Fridays

South First Fridays are an eclectic evening of arts and culture in downtown San Jose’s SoFA arts district, centered on South First Street. Held on the first Friday of every month, the arts venues on South First Street are all open from 8 until 11pm and offer free admission and a wide variety of live entertainment. It’s a lively scene attended by arts-lovers of all ages.

Gallery Time with Joan Schulze

Joan Schulze will be in the galleries to talk to visitors about her work and to provide informal exhibition walkthroughs. Free with Museum admission. No reservation necessary.

Secrets of the Aloha Shirt

Make your own Hawaiian shirt while learning efficient sewing techniques that you can apply to other garments. Class includes serger techniques and other custom touches. Students must have taken Eddie’s Machine Basics and Beginning Sewing before taking this class or have equivalent experience with basic sewing and garment-making skill and be able to read a pattern.

Kids Create

Get ready to explore the many cultures in our community with this popular program. Join us each month as we celebrate a different tradition through story and a hands-on art project. Kids Create is a multicultural arts program for children aged 5-10.
Materials fee: $7.50. Must pay materials fee in advance to confirm reservation. Fee may be paid online or at 408.971.0323 x14. Walk-ins accepted only if there is room at the session.
This month's theme: Zipper Magic: A twist on Native American basket-weaving

This is the last day we can accept donated items for our Second Annual May Day Market to be held May 7-9. Please consider donating that fabulous fabric you know you’ll never use, some ethnic textiles you collected on your travels, or a new or historical quilt for this big benefit sale. Questions?
